Question 1:
When will you move?

At this point the library is tentatively scheduled to move in October of 2007. Most of the schools will be relocating during the same fall period, which means everyone will be disrupted and inconvenienced to some extent. There are too many programs and individuals to do this during a short period, such as a winter holiday break. Move schedules will be publicized as we get closer to actual relocation.

Question 2:
What will be the new phone number for the library?

This new number will go live across the library web site once the new library is open. 303-724-2152.

top

Question 3:
Will the library close during the move
or suspend electronic access?

Although the details of the move have yet to be finalized, we will minimize any disruption to electronic access or physical use of the library. The timing of library relocation will be part of the complex migration of multiple educational programs all moving in the same period.

Question 5:
How big is the new library?

The new library at Anschutz Medical Campus will be 113,000 gross square feet, almost double the size of Denison Library.  There will be 24,000 linear feet of shelving on the second and third floors to accommodate 215,000 journal and book volumes.

Question 6:
Why do we need a bigger space than we have now if everything is online?

The new library has less space devoted to stacks because of the availability of online journals. One of the biggest unmet needs based on user requests over time is for lots of rooms for group collaboration and learning. Most of the additional space in the new library is designed as group study, with more than 30 new areas.

Question 7:

The faculty and staff of the library remain committed to service excellence.
