Submission Procedures and Guidelines for Electronic Copy Reserve Material
- Reserve materials should be submitted to the library at least one week prior to the starting date of the class. This advance submittal gives library staff the time to process the materials.
- Consult the course reserve copyright guidelines, then fill out the request form completely.
- Electronic reserve (eRes): Provides online access to journal articles, book chapters, lecture notes, and other materials submitted by instructors for students' use. Please provide to the Circulation Department photocopies of the journal articles, book chapters, course lectures and/or exams that are to be placed on reserve. Library staff will not search the stacks for the required items.
- For electronic reserves, please supply the Circulation Department with photocopies to scan.
- The items should be single-sided print copies of the highest possible quality for scanning purposes.
- Copies should be submitted without staples.
- There is a limit of 25 articles/chapters for each class.
- Materials placed on eRes will not be simultaneously placed on hardcopy reserves, but we will retain the hard copies as a backup in the Circulation Department during the semester.
- Book/Audiovisual reserve: Please check the IMPULSE online catalog to determine if the library has a copy of the book or other item before placing a personal copy on reserve. We prefer to have the library copy on reserve whenever possible. We will gladly add personal copies to the reserve collection if you wish. We do our best to promote the care and security of all library materials; however, the Health Sciences Library cannot accept responsibility for loss of or damage to personal materials.
- Materials will be taken off reserve and returned to instructors at the end of the term/course.
- Be sure to consult the Library's Course Reserve Copyright Guidelines.
