Who Gets What?
The Health Sciences Library at the Anschutz Medical Campus is funded by the Health Sciences Center (HSC) campuses of the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC) and the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) to serve HSC and UCH personnel. The library’s primary users include students currently enrolled at the UCDHSC’s HSC campuses, as well as faculty and staff paid by the HSC or UCH.
Primary users of the library receive all HSC Library Services at either optimal cost or no cost (see chart below).
Retired HSC faculty are considered primary users, with all library privileges. Registration required.
Although the mission of the library is to support our primary customers, the physical library is open to the public. Physical materials and most electronic resources are available in-library. Selected additional library services may be provided to non-primary users on a fee-for-service basis.
See the chart below for more specific information describing library privileges by customer category.

Your institutional ID is all you need to check out books and other items. Your name and institutional ID number allows you to access databases and online journal articles from off campus.
Your institutional ID (student ID or employee ID) is probably already registered with the library.
- You can test this by logging in to the library catalog (opens new browser window).
- If you cannot get in, registering with us is easy.
- If you are a University of Colorado Hospital employee, your Institutional ID for library purposes has an "H" in front of it. Click here for more details on Institutional IDs.
